of Vermont’s Best New Dishes of 2009

Belted Cow Bistro, Essex Junction, Vermont’s newest restaurant, made
the list of the Top Best New Dishes of 2009 by one of the areas most
eclectic food critics.

raves about Chef John Delpha’s Red Hen Bread Tartine with Smoke Pork
as an incredible way to showcase his championship barbeque skills.
“The meat is beyond

“Firm yet forgiving, delicate but strong. Topped with cheddar fondue
and zesty pickled onions, the dish is so satisfying, dinner becomes
an afterthought.”
John
Delpha, chef and co-owner of The Belted Cow Bistro recently added
world barbecue champion to his list of culinary achievements. In
October 2009, Delpha and his teammates of I Que were named the
winners of the 21st Annual
Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue, commonly
known as “The Jack.” Delpha has added special barbeque items to the
menu each Tuesday night so that customers can sample his outstanding
skills.
Delpha
and I Que competed in the categories of Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder,
Beef Brisket and Chicken, as well as "Jack Daniel’s Sauce" and
Desserts. I Que not only
captured the top prize but also finished second in pork
shoulders/butts, second in desserts and eighth in
chicken.
The
Belted Cow Bistro is an American Bistro owned and operated by Chef
John Delpha and wife Caitlin Bilodeau. They partner with Vermont
distributors and farms to offer the highest quality local seasonal
products. The 70-seat restaurant, a member of the Vermont Fresh
Network, offers off-site catering and in-house banquets. Open
